Extra! Extra! Get 'em while they're hot! If you are going to be in Austin on the weekend of October 18th and 19th, and you would like to go to the Maker Faire, I can help you with the cost of tickets, courtesy of Average Jane Crafter. The adult tickets cost $25 each, the student tickets cost $15 each, and the youth tickets cost $10 each. I have FIVE to give away (2 adult, 2 student, 1 youth). Please note that you must be an actual student or an actual youth to use the allocated tickets. In order to enter the drawing, please leave a comment by 1:00 PM CST, Monday, October 6th. I will draw winners at that point and post the results. The comment that you leave must include an e-mail address where I can find you (unless I can find your e-mail through your personal profile that you post with), what kind of tickets you want and how many, and one of two things (yes, there's a twist): 1) A link to something handmade that is for sale that you would love to buy for yourself if you got some free money, or 2) A brief description of something you do to help other people or make the world a better place. I will choose three random winners. If the total amount of tickets requested by the three random winners leaves leftovers, I will draw names from posters requesting the type of tickets leftover. In other words, if, after choosing the three winners there is a youth ticket left, I will draw names from posters who requested a youth ticket. Good luck!
In making news, I took a day off from working on items to sell, and made Harlan some muscle car shorts with this cool fabric. He gasped when I showed them to him, but then I had to practically twist his arm to get him to try them on for a photo. He's very fickle these days.
Rose & Duke got a mention this week on the Wickedly Chic blog, thanks ladies!
PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE YOUR E-MAIL IN YOUR COMMENT, IF YOUR PROFILE DOES NOT INCLUDE IT! I HAVE A FEW COMMENTS ALREADY WITH NO MEANS OF CONTACT.

Those pants Rock!I need some time to sew again!
You have my email, so I won't leave it. I really would like to attend the Faire, most likely alone, so Bill can watch Molly and I can really look around. Is that selfish? Will you have a booth? I guess I will hopefully make the world a better place in the future by starting a small food business that will cater to healthy, organic foods and snacks for children. I also love a lot. Anyway, if I don't get the ticket, I still would like to go. Can I meet you there??
Ellen, I'll have a booth in the vendor's area. PLEASE stop by!
Kate, I think you might have time to sew again in about five years :)
Howdy - we'd love to have ticket(s) to the faire! We've never been and are eager to check it out this year! Your stuff is making me want to learn to sew - really bad. Cheers from your Habibi's compadres, Lilah (4), Holden (2), Jennifer, and Kevin. Thanks for thinking of us Hutchsters on the drawing!
Well poopy, I forgot to list a few things - one, we'd be happy to have 1 ticket or two, whatever you've got available, and they can be either youth or adult. We'll need four tickets in total to go, but would be happy to receive a single admission. Thing I'm doing to make the world a better place: I used to be a public school teacher and am currently a health educator. I'm working on creating stress management training for teachers to reduce turnover and increase job satisfaction. Link to something handmade I want... I love block prints. This one makes me think of Holden on the HH tire swing - rapture. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=13490284
Hey, from another Hutchster! We would love to be included in your drawing...having never been, but would so love to go this year. We would be looking for two adult tickets. Here is a link to a sweet dress, too.

HI!
I am Saskia. I was nice to my little sister Annika today. Papa told me robots would be at the Maker Fair so I want to go. I am four years old. Papa said Annika can't go because she is to little and she would break stuff people made. I only need a ticket for kids. Papa said he can get his own probably.
Papa showed me a hello kitty robot. Somebody probably made it in China. Papa said I can't have it.

umm, hi! me?
I'm in for the adult tickets!
I lust after Rosa Pomar's dolls, but need better timing! http://aervilhacorderosa.com/shop/2007/01/envelope_para_presente_gift_op_1.html
And heck, I'll do both. I haven't done anything big and extracurricular lately to make the world a better place, but I am sourcing organic cotton for my future printing projects.
My name is Melissa kellogg (email shewolfnm@yahoo.com) and I am a photographer. I volunteer with two hospitals in austin for families of dying infants. I give this photos and photo sessions free of charge to the families so that they can have professional keepsakes for the rest of their lives. It doesnt change the world, just the families and that is my goal.
i would love to take my own family to the fair. I would need 2 adults and one child ticket. If it so happens that I may win by default, I would be happy with just one adult and one child ticket.
Dearest commenters,
Please LEAVE ME YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS if your profile does not show it. I don't know how to contact some of you if you win.
Best,
Jessica

This is a cute star shaped pendent necklace with the initial S for Sommer.
I would like 2 adult tickets to maker fair.
I wish I was going to be in Austin! Sounds so fun! (dont add me to the drawing just wanted to post)
Hi Jessica- My email should show now...but just in case:

Thanks!
oooh! we totally want to come check it out, especially as arden is determined to be a robot for halloween.
you know, you got me thinking a lot on the what you do to help people/the world. we donate money, give away lots of stuff, etc., but in the end, i think the thing we do most in our house to help the world is make people laugh. and it's been a while for me since i've gotten the chance to do much of that (ahem, new baby) but it's always a bit amazing the stories people will share about why they needed that laugh, and how much it helped...
i'd love any tickets up to 2 adults and 1 youth...

Harlan rocks!

i just found out that kids 3 and under are free! rock on! so...my dream would be one or two adult tickets. just to clarify that i'm not secretly hiding some older kiddo from you... :)
I am quite in need of 2 adult tickets. Hubby isn't quite convinced it's cool enough to spend $50 on for a day.
As for a handmade item- I am totally in love with modern quilts latey. I love the color combos and patterns that people use!
Here is one that popped up in one of my latest searches on Etsy (which I do almost every day)

Goodness, I forgot to read the directions! Ok, you have my email, so I love this this woman's work http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5358026 I bought a bowl for a thank you gift for my midwfe but would love one for me too!
Too make the world a better place.. I hope to model simplicity of life, of taking time to be slow, to enjoy quiet moments of life and to help those around me smile at the small things throughout the day. I am starting this process with raising my 2 boys (wow - 2 kids!).
I'd take 2 tickets.
Where art thou oh Violette Crumble ;-) ?
Oooops -- that was actually me!
